Participants have the opportunity to gain experience in practical artistic and creative collaboration with students from different arts disciplines and cultural backgrounds. An international team of lecturers will accompany the participants in their explorations.

Extractive Realities and Ecological Resonances

Dates: 1 July – 12 July 2024
Location: Athens

This 2-week summer school explores the urban and suburban landscapes of Athens, navigating between industrial towns, farming lands, and sites of ancient Eleusinian mysteries. Mapping land use, past and present, and translating findings into artistic/activist expressions, visible fields and hidden effects on human and other-than-human life will be revealed.

The Embedded Artist

Dates: 5 August – 7 August 2024 online
Dates: 12 August – 23 August 2024 onsite
Location: Zurich

Artists embedded in social fields experience everyday realities through active listening, observation and participation. By means of artistic translations, they convey knowledge, perspectives and questions for other social strata. As mouthpieces, amplifiers and/or complexity-multipliers, they become active co-creators of social futures.

Hacking Global Pop Icons

Dates: 5 August – 9 August 2024 online

Location: Hong Kong

The sixth edition of the Hacking Global Pop Icons summer school continues the legacy from the previous editions’ format. Students will choose a pop icon as a common starting point for cultural analysis and create creative works and interventions in the form of a pop-up event.

In the Times of Neon Thoughts & Electric Desires

Dates: 8 August – 22 August 2024 onsite
Location: Seoul

This two week summer school merges traditional art with modern technology, offering a curriculum that explores Seoul’s cultural landscape, influenced by K-pop and cinema. Participants engage in creative processes, fostering a community that appreciates diverse artistic expressions in a city symbolizing contemporary culture.

Rituals In Teletopia — Practices in Telematic Performances

Dates: 26 August – 4 September 2024
Location:  Singapore, Taipei, Zurich

In this interdisciplinary course students from various disciplinary backgrounds get the chance to collaborate and create a performance across remote stages in hub locations (Zurich, Singapore, Taipei). Students will explore the aesthetics, narratives, and cultural dimensions of telematic immersive performance-making through learning techniques in staging, scoring, improvisation, and performance art.
