In 2020 the Italian Cultural Institute in Hong Kong (ICI) invited three local tertiary institutions (Academy of Visual Arts, HKBU; School of Design, PolyU; HKDI) to take part in their new Design in Hong Kong initiative, a programme to connect young Italian designers with Hong Kong students through research and creation. 9 AVA students, under the guidance of 3 alumni mentors, created three sets of ceramic artworks in response to the complexity of the current pandemic situation. They are exploring new ways of living with more meaning and passion, through objects that can inject joy and resilience in a time of contagious fear and anxiety.
These artworks will be exhibited in the Pao Galleries, Hong Kong Art Centre from the 26th of March until 4th of April, 2021, and will be exhibited again in SIAM 1838, 5VIE Design District, Milan during the Milan Design Week 2021 (Early September; Date and details to be announced).
