CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS
The Academy of Visual Arts (AVA), in partnership with Postdesign Milano, will be hosting a ceramic workshop to create a series of new work that explores ways to continue living fully and joyously with daily objects and materials, in particular in a time where we are challenged with isolation and confinement.
We are inviting 12 AVA students with good knowledge in ceramics to participate in the workshop. The successful applicants will have the opportunity to respond to a thematic idea, take part in the discussions, and generate a personal interpretative concept from which to develop a line of enquiry through artistic creation. Students will be working in groups from this summer to autumn, and will be mentored by AVA alumni who are specialized in ceramics-making. Postdesign Milano, a famous design and architecture group in Italy, will also provide supports to the project.
This workshop is a part of the Design Made in Hong Kong 2021 – Exploring Through Creativity, a cross-cultural project organised by the Italian Cultural Institute in Hong Kong to promote culture, innovation, and manifestation of original intellectual achievements. It is developed to enhanced students’ knowledge, skills and innovation by working with industrial partners. Our goal is to inspire and motivate students to reach their full creative potential in an international and interdisciplinary setting.
Selected works from the workshop will go on display in a new exhibition at the Mallory 7 Arts Centre in Hong Kong, and the Postdesign Gallery in Milan during the Milan Design Week 2021.
If you are interested, please send your CV and portfolio to Thickest Choi (chihauchoi@hkbu.edu.hk) by 11 May 2020. Successful applicants will be informed in due course.
