UPDATE 14 NOV: The public lecture by Prof. John Aiken will be postponed until further notice.
The development of a body of creative work reflects influences, proposes questions, reveals decisions and more often than not generates elements that surprise and sometimes perplex. This lecture plots stages of a personal journey over an extended period of time through research in the broadest sense into what could be defined as the shape of things. Things that are understood, are speculative, are discovered, lost and regained. The resulting artworks, their physical form and the places and objects that have informed and influenced their creation are diverse but also reveal some recurring themes and approaches that have generated shapes and volumes and enabled enigmas to emerge.
