AVA student Kwok Ka-lok won the Student Group Champion award in the 10th Hong Kong Lighting Design Competition recently. His work LUNA features electroluminescent wires arranged in a blossom-like pattern framing a hollow circle that symbolises the moon. The design is meant to reflect how moonlight does not come from the moon itself.
Ka-lok said, “The most difficult part of the work was visualising my concept. I hand made the textured spray paint frames and embeded all the wires.” Through the shape of the moon, Ka-lok hopes the work can convey one’s feelings by the visible and invisible light.
Congratulation Ka-lok!
