Last year, Ryan was awarded an Artist-in-Residence at Shigaraki Ceramic Cultural Park in Japan, where he spent three months from June to August to create new works. In this talk, he will share with audience his experience in the Artist-in-Residence programme and discuss his passion for experiencing different technique such as wood kiln firing and working with local clays.
Ryan Hui graduated from the Academy of Visual Arts of the Hong Kong Baptist University with a Bachelor’s degree in 2015. He co-founded the pottery workshop Toki Nashiki in 2016 and specialises in exclusively formulated glazes and production of attractive yet highly functional pottery vessels for daily use.
