[Public Lecture] A Special Kind of Print: Exlibris in Hong Kong
Ex-libris (also known as bookplate) is a special kind of print created as a mark of ownership for books which has been using since the 15th century.
DESCRIPTION
Ex-libris (also known as bookplate) is a special kind of print created as a mark of ownership for books which has been using since the 15th century. Famous artists, such as William Hogarth, Aubrey Beardsley and John Piper, have designed ex-libris. Despite this, many people don’t know this art form. Dr. Sarah Ng (AVA Research Assistant Professor) invites Mr. Yu Yuanhong (the founder of Hong Kong Ex-libris Association and the chairman of Art Asia Foundation) and Ms. Hung Oiyee (a renowned Hong Kong printmaker) to introduce the art of ex-libris in Hong Kong and their association. Ms Hung will make prints from copper plates in the second half of the lecture.
