This exhibition is all about ceramics and more. Two ceramist Cherry, Shuk-Ting TSOI and Daphne NG encountered in this exhibition. They have kept practicing ceramics ever since their graduation in the same studio, and this is the first time that they displayed the artworks in the same space together. Cherry’s works have a strong connection to nature. She always gets inspirations from the natural processes, also forms, colors and structures of sea creatures and plants. On the other hand, Daphne practiced ceramics by following her instinct. She creates works by playing with shapes, forms and the materiality. Using ceramics as a common language, this exhibition will associate ceramics to a breviloquent perspectives of organic matters.
Cherry, Shuk-Ting TSOI
Cherry, Shuk-Ting TSOI received her Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts from Hong Kong Baptist University (2016). Her works have a strong connection to nature, she always gets inspirations from the natural processes , also forms, colors and structures of sea creatures and plants. By layering repeated forms, she creates works that reflect her fascination with the complexity of biological structures. Her works contain a sense of growth and abundance, she uses the intricate details to celebrate fecundity of nature and renew the connection to nature.
Daphne NG
Graduated in Hong Kong Baptist University in 2018, studied in Visual Arts. She found great interest in different kinds of materials and traditional crafts. Her practice always follow her intuition in making art, exploring the shape, form and materiality of the material. Although her artworks covers a wide range of themes, they will always end up to the discussion of humanity and the ego.
