The talk looks at the research that Phil Thompson has done over the past 5 years investigating how artists have responded to the growing issue of electronic waste. The research primarily focuses on electronic waste dumps in Hong Kong and Ghana, two particular hot spots for e-waste importation. The talk will explore how other artists have dealt with the situation and the implications of their work, as well as looking at the work that Thompson has produced in response.
Phil Thompson is an artist and lecturer based in London. He works predominantly in photography, video, and internet based works. He has exhibited and taught internationally and has a PhD from University College London.

The talk is CCL accredited for HKBU students. An evaluation form will be e-mailed to the participated students after the talk. Please note that the CCL unit will only be given to those students who have registered the event and submitted with a completed evaluation form.
