The Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS) is now open for AY2027/28 applications, offering outstanding students the chance to pursue practice-led and practice-based research with world-class scholars at AVA.

 

At AVA, PhD candidates (4-year, full-time) can explore a wide range of visual arts fields with over 20 industry standard studios in Robotics, Printmaking, Ceramics 3D printing, Immersive Arts, Graphic Design, etc. HKPFS awardees will receive:

 

  • Elite Scholar Award: HK$40,000 per annum for the first three years
  • Stipend: HK$344,400 annually
  • Conference & Research Travel Allowance: HK$14,400/year (up to 3 years) + HK$20,000 HKBU top-up (4-year study period)
  • Waiver of Tuition Fees for 4 years
  • HKBU accommodation guaranteed for the first two years
