INTRODUCTION
Dr. Arne Berger is an interaction design researcher and post-doctoral researcher at Chemnitz University of Technology, Germany. Dr. Berger will introduce his research on interactive co-design tools, methods, and labs. Together with his team, he engages older adults in participatory design projects using smart technology in the context of their homes and neighbourhoods. Interactive co-design tools and methods contribute novel ways to explore, appropriate, understand, and critically reflect design spaces within the smart home and the Internet of Things (IoT). With open public design labs, the team also seeks a deeper understanding of how to establish and maintain sustainable participatory designs for an ageing population.
