Ellie MacGarry will discuss the work she made while on residency at AVA in 2018 that helped her to develop some ongoing themes in her practice and how these have developed further since returning to London. She will explore ideas about the body in relation to painting – how we cover, uncover and transform; giving space to feelings and thoughts around desire, aspiration, vulnerability and embarrassment.
Ellie MacGarry is an artist living and working in London, UK. She studied Fine Art at the University of Leeds and the Slade School of Fine Art. Recent exhibitions include Come Undone, Daniel Benjamin Gallery, London (2019), Sensitive Matter, Bridget Riley Studios, London (2019) and 'I know that you know', Wells Projects, London (2019).

The talk is CCL accredited for HKBU students. An evaluation form will be e-mailed to the participated students after the talk. Please note that the CCL unit will only be given to those students who have registered the event and submitted with a completed evaluation form by 30 May (Thurs).
