Join us in the CCL talk where Hong Kong interdisciplinary artist David Chan shares his early visual art form stems from the Chinese contemporary calligraphy to its later transformation into the boundless creativity of narrative structures on Chinese Contemporary ink creations of the "Ice Painting" series, which is created since 2020 as reflections on nature and life; each stage of Chan's creation represents his unique artistic expression and perception of contemporary society.
In this talk, David will reveal his artistic belief as a networked negotiation of hope, fear and data and emotional interpretation, where ideology masks its constructedness. He will also discuss his creative practice—erasing calligraphic certainties into open scripts, and melting his emotions and ideas into "Ice Paintings"—proposing that art stages empathetic and continuous creativity.
