Abstract
Join us for the Briefing Session for Student Recruitment for Iron Floral Scrolls – Community Art / Craft Education Programme by Dr. Ho Siu-Kee, Artist in Residence at Hong Kong Arts Centre.
Presented by the Hong Kong Arts Centre, the community-based craft education programme "Iron Floral Scrolls" will be launched in Tai Kok Tsui as part of the "RE: Tai Kok Tsui" project. Wrought iron work is a metal craft that was commonly used in different life scenes in the past such as window grilles, gates, fences and other public facilities. Unfortunately, it has gradually declined. Tai Kok Tsui has a unique historical background related to the hardware and metal work industry. It is very appropriate to rediscover the beauty of this folk craft here and explore the possibility of its applications in contemporary life. This is a programme that combines community historical and cultural investigation with craft education. A briefing session is therefore organised for potential participants to know more about the programme.
