A Living Space is an art project by kaitak, Centre for Research and Development from 2013. Through progressive observation, exploration, understanding and research on local space, the project probes into the essence and possibility of life. The research processes and outcomes are delivered by the art or published works in the end. The ultimately hope of the research team is to answer the questions: what kind of place and residence could be called a ‘livable’ habitat? And how can we create our own living environment?
A Living Space – Squatting to Reimagine Life is the 2nd publication of the project. Through observing different squatters scattered around Hong Kong, we try to understand the relationship between people and their living spaces, what factors resulted and created the conditions of their own space. Besides the kaitak team, we invited the experienced book designer, Renatus Wu to join our creative team to design the expression form of the book. Also, he will introduce the publication and printing industry through conducting workshop.
We cordially invite AVA students and alumni to join the production of a publication, A Living Space – Squatting to Reimagine Life. Work participants will learn about the work flow and skills of book binding in printing industry, and involve in the production of a professional publication. A Living Space – Squatting to Reimagine Life is a limited edition of 500 copies, a complimentary copy will be given to each participant. The workshop has limited seat, please register and first come first served.
