[ _ _ _ ]
For this event [ _ _ _ ], the network music ensemble formed by the artists Li Song, Jia Liu, and Shuoxin Tan, all originally from Mainland China, presents a collaborative algorithmic music performance from their current locations in the UK and Germany. They will each live-code their algorithms connected through a communication mechanism they have created, the algorithms being live-interpreted into sound in the bunker space at HKBU AVA Kai Tak campus, from where this live-stream will be broadcast.
The performance will be followed by a Q&A between the artists and Edward Sanderson (aka escdotdot).

This is the fifth event stemming from research by Edward Sanderson, PhD Candidate at Hong Kong Baptist University Academy of Visual Arts (HKBU AVA). This research looks into communal spaces of experimental sound and music in Mainland China and Hong Kong. Given the current pandemic-related restrictions on travel and gatherings, Edward's research has expanded beyond physical spaces of performance to look at how online spaces assist in (or prevent) the creation of dispersed communities for experimental sound and music. Previous results of this research have been presented in an exhibition at the HKBU AVA Gallery in November 2020, and the first performance in this bunker space in January 2021 by the artists Dennis Wong (aka Sin:Ned), KWC, and Anthony Yeung.
