Philip Sajet was born in Amsterdam and his family travelled to Jakarta, Indonesia, where he was exposed to Chinese antiques and it was here he fell in love with tradition, being fascinated by these small objects with colours, coloured stones and enamels, as well as the powerful weight feeling of them. When he saw the jewellery of Giampaolo Babetto and Francesco Pavan in Gallery Nouvelles Images in 1977, Philip decided to live with his passion.
Philip’s work has been exhibited in hundreds of galleries around the world since 1986 and continues until today. Collections are in some of the most well-known galleries around the world: The Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, The Netherlands; Royal College of Art, London UK; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, USA and Victoria & Albert Museum, London, UK. Notable acquisitions include Musée des Arts, Paris, France. The Powerhouse Museum, Sydney, Australia. Corning Museum of Glass, New York, USA and China Academy of Art, Hangzhou, China.
In this talk, Philip will discuss the journey that he became a jewellery artist and his art concept.
