Launched in 2009 by the Hot Bed Press, the 20:20 Print Exchange initially involved 10 artists from Hot Bed Press in Salford exchanging prints with 10 artists from Red Hot Press in Southampton. The exchange provides each artist with a unique box of randomly prints created by other artists. The initiative has since outgrown its humble beginnings and is now beyond the United Kingdom. Today, artists from the United Kingdom, Ireland, Hong Kong and Canada have participated in the 20:20 Print Exchange. This year, 14,300 prints have been received from 541 artists from 40 print studios. Collected prints will then be randomly packed into boxes and delivered to the contributors and encourage the exchange of ideas and printmaking techniques among each other.
Each year, the 20:20 Print Exchange will be exhibited printmaking studios and galleries across the UK. Coming to the second year of AVA students’ contribution, we are honoured and extremely excited to bring the full series of 20:20 Print Exchange to Hong Kong for the first time. The exhibition aims to raise public awareness and promote printmaking to Hong Kong.
