Dr. Lukasz Mirocha
Dr. Lukasz Mirocha is a new media and creative software theoretician/practitioner working with immersive and real-time 3D media engaged in new media/digital technology research and practice for almost a decade.
Mirocha holds a PhD from the School of Creative Media, City University of Hong Kong. He has published on new media, digital aesthetics and digital design and exhibited artworks internationally. Before his postgraduate studies, he worked as a government-funded researcher, technology journalist, strategic foresight researcher and consultant.
Dr. Lukasz Mirocha’s current project, funded under the RGC Postdoctoral Fellowship Scheme and conducted at AVA, is a continuation of his PhD research on affordances of general-purpose game engines and 3D content creation software for designing new types of real-time, CGI-based content and 3D/VR environments for art, entertainment and commercial purposes. He is currently examining real-time media design techniques for Virtual Production / filmmaking and for ML / AI training and research, which both use 3D, real-time environments. The project involves theoretical analysis as well as practice-led research on certain creative software ecologies. The research output includes new media artworks, software prototypes and scholarly publications.
