The Play Depot project is where young creators survey the area to find special recyclable materials and learn the skill of handicraft from masters in order to develop games with and within the communal area. In 2017, the Cattle Depot Artist Village in To Kwa Wan became an open playground with fun and creative workshops and activities. The project was popular among children from different social hierarchies, who played and participated in games with each other. The project extends to 2 years, while 8 artists will undertake 11-week residencies at the Cattle Depot Artist Village to explore contemporary art practice in relation to creative play. Each artist-in-residence will explore new ways to interact with the community and the use of recycled wastes as creative materials for making playful objects through artistic engagement and experimentation.
