How to Apply

BA (Hons) in Visual Arts

Students are admitted to the BA (Hons) in Visual Arts through the JUPAS (Joint University Programmes Admission System) and Non-JUPAS routes.

JUPAS is designed to assist students with Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) results and is the main application route for admission. JUPAS applicants should submit their application via JUPAS website. For JS2810 Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts Programme, best 5 HKDSE subjects including English Language subject will be considered in Academic Score calculation.

Direct (Non-JUPAS) Admission Scheme is for local and non-local applicants who are applying for admission on the basis of qualifications other than Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) or National Joint College Entrance Examination (JEE) results of the current year.   Associate Degree/ Higher Diploma/ Professional Diploma/ Diploma final year students or graduates and Degree holders may apply for Year 1 or Year 3 (senior year) entry through Non-JUPAS Admission. Non-JUPAS application usually closes by the end of the year at December preceding the entry year.  For details, please visit the Academic Registry website.

MA in Visual Arts

The programme welcomes quality students from all nationalities and background.  Application normally starts from mid-November.  Applicants please visit the Graduate School website for up-to-date information about programme admission and online application. Late applications may be considered if places are still available.

Note that the Hong Kong Immigration Department requires all full-time non-local students (from overseas, Macao, Taiwan or Mainland China) to obtain a student visa in order to study in Hong Kong.  Visa applications should normally be made at least two months in advance.

MPhil / PhD

Application for admission to research postgraduate programmes leading to MPhil or PhD degrees are accepted year-round, but commencement of studies is preferred to be in either January or September.   MPhil and PhD programmes are two-year and three-year full-time respectively.

AVA offers full studentships (including tuition fee and living expenses) to qualified full-time students.  Applicants please visit the Graduate School website for up-to-date information about programme admission, studentships and student visa applicable to non-local applicants.
