Our Cabinet of Curiosities
-A memory theatre of nature in jewellery and small objects

In this era of the Internet, our curiosity is so readily satisfied by the constant feed of information, and our numbed senses seem to cease to find refreshing excitement from the sense of wonder.

In Renaissance Europe, however, cabinets of curiosities were used to exhibit cherished articles collected by the royal and privileged from different corners of the world at a time when travelling around was a pastime not easily afforded by the majority. The cabinets thus represented a miniature of the exotic world.

Today, because of our busy urban life, nature has become the exotic world that we turn to for breathing space and solace.

A group of fellow graduates from AVA also find every encounter with nature a precious and unique experience. This has urged them to gather and share their own stories of connection with nature, through our art and craft. They hope this exhibition will help the audience to experience the sense of wonder, fun and queries, and their sentimental attachment that they have derived from nature through this cabinet of curiosities.
